Couturier Ade Bakare is celebrating the 23rd Anniversary of his namesake line this year. He's the perfect example of one of my favorite aspects of being in the fashion industry at this time in human history; global influence. Mr. Bakare is a British born man who was also raised in Nigeria. He was trained in British tailoring but loves haute couture tradition and technique. He also draws on the exquisite textile making tradition of Nigeria. That combination of elements is guaranteed to produce designs you've never seen before. This is happening all over the world and it is intensifying. Aren't we lucky?
